Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using PolicyDraft.org, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. Description of Service
PolicyDraft.org is a collaborative platform for creating, managing, and visualising policy knowledge graphs. Users contribute nodes (ideas, arguments, evidence), edges (relationships between nodes), and thematics (topic groupings) to build a shared knowledge base. The platform also uses AI-assisted features to suggest connections and merges between contributions.
3. User Accounts
To contribute to the platform you must create an account. We collect only the minimum information required: your email address and an optional display name. You agree to:
- Provide a valid email address
- Maintain the security of your password and account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access
- Be responsible for all activities under your account
4. Collaborative Content
The core purpose of PolicyDraft.org is collaborative knowledge building. When you create nodes, edges, thematics, merge proposals, comments, or publications, you are contributing to a shared knowledge graph. By contributing content you acknowledge and agree that:
- Your contributions may be viewed, discussed, merged with, built upon, or published by other users
- Collaborative content is retained to maintain the integrity of the knowledge graph, even if you later delete your account (in which case your contributions are anonymised)
- Other users and AI-assisted processes may propose merges, edits, or connections involving your content
- Thematic privacy settings control visibility to other users, but content in public thematics is accessible to all registered users
5. Personal Information in Collaborative Content
You must not include sensitive personal information — about yourself or others — in nodes, edges, thematics, or any other collaborative content. This includes but is not limited to: home addresses, phone numbers, health information, financial details, government identification numbers, or any information that could identify a private individual.
PolicyDraft.org accepts no responsibility or liability for any personal information that users voluntarily include in collaborative content. Such content may be viewed by other users, processed by AI services, included in publications, or retained indefinitely. If you include personal information in collaborative content, you do so entirely at your own risk.
6. Content Licence
You retain moral rights to content you create. By posting content, you grant PolicyDraft.org a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:
- Store, display, and distribute your content on the platform
- Process your content through AI services for merge suggestions, connection proposals, and content analysis
- Allow other users to view, interact with, and build upon your content
- Include your content (with attribution or anonymised) in platform publications
You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any laws or infringe on others' rights.
7. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Include personal data about identifiable individuals in collaborative content without their explicit consent
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Post harmful, abusive, defamatory, or offensive content
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Use automated systems to access the platform without permission
- Impersonate others or provide false information
8. Intellectual Property
The platform, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by PolicyDraft.org and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the platform itself without permission.
9. User Levels and Permissions
Access to certain features depends on your user level (Observer, Contributor, Moderator, Admin, Founder) and reputation score. We reserve the right to modify user levels, permissions, and the reputation system at our discretion.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through your Account Settings. Upon deletion, your personal data is anonymised but collaborative content is retained in anonymised form.
11. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free service
- Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content (including AI-generated suggestions)
- Fitness for any particular purpose
- That collaborative content contributed by users is free from personal data or other sensitive information
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PolicyDraft.org and its operators shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service
- Any personal information that users include in collaborative content (nodes, edges, thematics, publications, or other shared data)
- Any actions taken by other users or AI processes based on collaborative content
- Loss or corruption of data
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold PolicyDraft.org harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service, content you contribute, or violation of these terms.
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
15. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict of law principles.
16. Contact
If you have questions about these terms, please contact us through your Account Settings or via the platform.
